REAL CLIENT EXPERIENCES

They already had a quote. Here’s how we added value.

Each client had a quotation from another supplier. Before ordering, they asked HPI to review it. Here is what we found, and the value we added.

The cheaper-looking decision could have meant buying obsolete equipment.

THE RESULT FOR OUR CLIENT

The current model, supported by the manufacturer, instead of discontinued equipment.

✓ Avoided an unsupported purchase
QUOTED ROUTE · VIA THE USAItalyUSAAfricaDIRECT FROM THE FACTORYItalyAfrica

The factory was in Italy. The quoted route went through America.

THE RESULT FOR OUR CLIENT

Shipped directly from Italy to Africa, eliminating the unnecessary US shipping leg.

✓ Removed an unnecessary shipping leg

The equipment quote looked competitive. The freight estimate did not hold up.

THE RESULT FOR OUR CLIENT

The real freight cost, about six times the estimate, was agreed before the order was placed, not after our client was committed.

✓ Exposed the true freight cost before ordering

A real client experience · 01 / Obsolete equipment

The cheaper-looking decision could have meant buying obsolete equipment.

Our client already had

A competitive quotation from another supplier for the exact equipment specified. Before placing the order, our client asked us to take a second look.

What our review uncovered

The manufacturer had discontinued the model and no longer supported it.

How we added value

We spoke directly with the manufacturer and identified its recommended current replacement. We provided the manufacturer’s technical documentation, and our client approved the replacement before we proceeded.

The result for our client

Our client approved the OEM-recommended replacement and placed the order: the current model, supported by the manufacturer, instead of discontinued equipment that would need replacing again sooner than our client would like.

A real client experience · 02 / Delivery

The factory was in Italy. The quoted route went through America.

Our client already had

A quotation for equipment from an American manufacturer, priced Ex Works USA.

What our review uncovered

Our client needed the equipment quickly. We asked the manufacturer to bring production forward, but the factory schedule was fixed. Pursuing every other option, we learned the equipment was made at the manufacturer’s factory in Italy. Under the existing quote, it would have been shipped to the US, cleared through US customs, then shipped again to Africa.

How we added value

We arranged to take delivery at the factory in Italy and ship it directly to Africa.

The result for our client

Shipped directly from Italy to Africa, eliminating the unnecessary US shipping leg and US customs clearance.

Challenge My Quote

A real client experience · 03 / Total landed cost

The equipment quote looked competitive. The freight estimate did not hold up.

Our client already had

A competitive quotation for 900 luminaires, each over 1.2 metres long, needed urgently at offshore facilities. Freight was estimated on ordinary pallets, with products overhanging and stacked beyond safe limits.

What our review uncovered

The luminaires needed purpose-built, weather-protected crates for marine conditions and possible long-term storage, and the urgency meant airfreight. With correct packing, the freight came to about six times the original estimate.

How we added value

We raised it before the order was placed. We set out the real packing and shipping requirements, the end user approved them, the terms were renegotiated, and HPI arranged the freight.

The result for our client

The true freight cost was agreed before ordering, not discovered after our client was committed. Our client avoided renegotiating from a weak position, and the goods were properly protected for transport and storage.
